6/15/2005 12:01:01 AM With a good CMP Garand available for under $400….I’d rather buy THREE or FOUR Garands than ONE new M1A. But if I had all the money….I’d have a closet full of Fulton and LRB M14s……. 24ksports 6/15/2005 7:15:41 AM Your M1 will never be an "almost M1A" – sounds like it is a $ issue. Rebarrel your M1 and save money for ammo. Ok, before I get drilled – I did the search (exactly like the title) and came up dry. Secondly, I have an AR10 – so it isn’t bashfest time. Simple question – feeding and extraction ONLY – is the M1A Accessories a more reliable weapon? –

I left the first battery in and thru the years it was not uncommon for me to forget to turn it off after a range trip. It would sit in the case for weeks before I took it out and noticed it and would turn it off. I finally had to change the battery during a class in 06.
Thanks If it’s a Springfield Armory M1A, it’s highly doubtful that you have a USGI barrel, unless it was changed out prior to you owning it. It probably says ".308" somewhere. USGI barrels are 7.62 NATO chambered, not .308, and it’s not as compatible with ammo, so they’re not too popular on commercial rifles. You could cut down your barrel, but you’ll discover you won’t be able to use the USGI flash hider because the splineways will have been lost. If this doesn’t bother you, then it’s pretty easy and you can use a Vortex or something to that effect. skeeters65 4/22/2007 7:47:23 PM Where are some places that I could look for a good 18" barrel? –

A friend of mine got his last week. It seemed well made. I have not shot the conversion yet, but it shouldered well and felt very solid.

While I much prefer the M14 type to the FAL , I’d say buy a FAL now since it’s going to be harder and harder to find a lower priced FAL in the future with all this ATF bs of late. You’ll be able to buy M14 clones for many moons to come.
With the fact that it’s SO hard to find a reasonably-priced pistol grip stock for my M1A?

My dad got a job at L3 about a year ago, so he switched out his Aimpoint for an EOTec. Well, I found his old Aimpoint just sitting collecting dust and decided it needed a new home It’s pretty old (for a Comp4, about 2 years old), and I’m pretty sure it’s a real Aimpoint, but I’m noticing that if I put a brand new AA battery (a good duracell) it gets drained in only a couple of days. Even if the Aimpoint is turned off it still gets drained… I’m pretty sure that is not normal as
And just about every 3-gunner using an Benelli M2 Accessories Field (which is a lot). You’ll recall that near the end of this season’s "Top Shot" they were using a Salient Arms International Benelli M2 Accessories with a nice, long mag extension. I don’t re reading about or seeing ATF kicking down anyone’s doors for that… MDracer76 5/4/2011 11:04:23 PM Originally Posted By leid: MDracer76, Thanks for the actual LOP measurement.
