Has anyone bought one of these yet? I just decided to buy ruger p 85. The local store had one NIB w/night sights for $400., after a little talking. I’ve always liked the cz 75 pistol handguns, infact I’ve got a little collection going. Just thought I’d see how you guys like cz 75 . I’ll have to wait a week before I can take it home. Damn Missouri p89 ruger! I thought it was a hell of a deal with the night sights.

How does their “Poly” finish hold up?

I’ve got a CZ 82 with some kind of “Poly” finish, but it 20 years old. Looks a little worn, but shoots really good cz 75 compact .

SIG 556

The Picatinny rail equipped receiver is made of high strength carbon steel with a durable wear-resistant Nitron X rifle finish. The trigger housing is made from a heat treated aircraft grade aluminum alloy with a hard-coat anodized finish designed to survive extreme conditions. The rifle comes equipped with a smooth two-stage trigger. The SIG 556 also features an ambidextrous safety and is designed to accept standard AR magazines. A 30-round magazine is supplied with each rifle. Spare battery compartments are provided in the ergonomically designed pistol grip as well as the rubber padded watertight adjustable butt stock. The butt stock also offers sling attachment points. In addition to the standard model SIG 556 which will begin to ship in late Fall of 2006, SIGARMS will also offer the SIG 556 SWAT. The SWAT model will feature the same compact design of the standard SIG 556 with 16 barrel but will feature a flat top Picatinny railed receiver and a tactical quad rail. These two rifles are the first of several new SIG 556 models that are currently in development at SIGARMS. The wait is over. The new U.S. made SIG 556 begins shipping in late Fall because the time has come.

Kimber Pistol

I’d take a hard look at one. My experience is that they are very good guns and aren’t complicated by a FP safety system or an external extractor.

Strangely enough, my (pre series-II) Classic Custom .45 came with a “series 80″ type firing ruger p 90 with the tell-tale relief cut. It is the original firing pin which came with the gun, from the factory. Possibly Kimber had run out of “series 70″ firing pins and used whatever the vendor (McCormick, I believe) had available. Who knows?

I bought the gun as a “beater” and instructional tool. I got a decent deal on it ($500) from the original owner (friend and co-worker) who had shot about 500 rounds through it (200 gr SWC target ammo) before falling on hard times. I figured after the MIM started falling apart I’d rebuild it as a custom carry gun or work gun. Well, that was several thousand rounds of hardball and full-power RNL (and ever some ruger p 89 junk) and the gun is still ticking without any breakages. I’ve made a few minor changes to suit my kimber 1911 hand gun needs. The changes are
